📚 Curriculum & Learning Focus

Our program offers a structured and engaging curriculum dedicated to preparing your child for a successful transition to kindergarten.

Core Curriculum: All activities and planning are guided by the research-backed Creative Curriculum. This framework ensures a well-rounded approach to early childhood education.

Project-Based Learning (Studies): We implement in-depth, project-based investigations, which we call Studies. This approach harnesses children's natural curiosity and critical thinking by diving deep into subjects they are genuinely interested in. Children are more engaged and retain more information when learning is centered around an exciting topic or item.

Additional Focus: A key part of our readiness program includes a dedicated focus on Personal Hygiene, teaching essential self-care skills for independence.

Assessment Tool Focus Area Purpose
ASQ (Ages & Stages Questionnaire) Key developmental domains (communication, motor skills, problem-solving, etc.) Provides a comprehensive overview of development.
ASQ-SE (ASQ: Social-Emotional) Social and emotional development. Evaluates self-regulation, compliance, and social interaction skills.

The Purpose of Assessments: The results from the ASQ and ASQ-SE directly inform how we create our class curriculum and learning centers. This data-driven approach is essential for supporting each child's individual growth and ensuring they are fully prepared for kindergarten readiness.

⏰ Care Options

We offer comprehensive care options designed to fit your family's schedule:

Before & After School Care: Reliable care during school days. Sunshine provides transportation to and from local schools, Beaver Creek, Holcolm, Redland Elementary

Full No-School Day Care: Coverage for teacher workdays and holidays when Sunshine ELC is open.

Full-Week Camps: Engaging, full-day camps offered during Winter Break, Spring Break, and Summer Break.

🚀 Curriculum & Activities Focus

Our program goes beyond supervision by planning fun, educational activities that primarily focus on promoting social engagement and collaboration among peers.

Theme-Based Break Camps

During major school breaks (Winter, Spring, and Summer), we switch to an exciting theme-based curriculum that connects learning with real-world experiences. We emphasize hands-on exploration and community engagement:

Community Exploration: We visit local community locations that directly support our weekly theme.

Example (Animals Theme): We might visit the local zoo or a farm, and even bring in special guests like a petting zoo or a reptile expert.

Example (Science Theme): We could take a trip to a local science museum (like OMSI) and conduct exciting science experiments right in our classroom.
